Frequently Asked Questions By Parents

What is online school & how does it work?

Online schooling works the same as conventional schools, with scheduled lessons, highly qualified teachers, homework, extracurricular activities, peer interaction, timetables, and break times. Where it differs is the flexible and personalised approach to learning, with small, tailored classes and flexible study schedules. Online schooling has continued to grow in popularity, becoming a wonderful alternative to conventional schooling. It first gained recognition during the pandemic after many children were left with no other choice but to learn from home. This period allowed many pupils to realise they studied better from home, leading to a large increase in the number of children learning online. Online school provides a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment that allows students to attend classes from the comfort of their own homes. This eliminates the need for travelling, saving time and making lessons available internationally. Students can attend their lessons live from anywhere with an internet connection on a laptop, computer, or tablet device. Classes are kept small with ten or fewer students per lesson to create a tailored approach to learning, focusing on students' individual needs so they receive the dedicated support they deserve to allow them to excel academically. With a flexible approach to learning, students can also customise their learning plan with the option to study part-time or full-time and the ability to catch up on any missed lessons on demand at any time.

What ages can attend your online school?

Cambridge Online School & College International is available for students aged 5 to 18 worldwide. Children start their learning at age 5 in primary school, moving onto secondary school at age 11, and finally starting sixth form at age 16. This follows the education system in the UK. What curriculum does your online school follow?

Cambridge Online School & College International follows a broad and creative curriculum designed to enrich students with knowledge, understanding, and skills to progress to further study. From primary school to KS3 in secondary school, we follow the UK National and Cambridge curricula. In KS4 in secondary school (IGCSE years) and sixth form, we follow the Cambridge and Edexcel curricula, with the option for students to choose which exam board they would like to study for.

How do exams work with online school?

Cambridge Online School & College International does not provide exams or an exam centre, as this wouldn't be convenient for international students to access. We do, however, provide guidance and support for finding an exam centre local to you that offers the subjects you want to study. Whether you choose an Edexcel or Cambridge exam centre will depend on the subjects you want to study, which curriculum you prefer, and what centres are local to you. Some Edexcel subjects are also available for on-screen assessments as of 2025, allowing students to sit exams from home. The subjects available are expected to continue to grow. As our online school does not provide exams or an exam centre, please note that our fees do not include exam costs. Exam fees wil be disclosed by your chosen exam centre and we have no control over the price as this is decided by the centre indepently. If you would like to learn more, please head over to our exam information page.
